The Stockholm International Comics Festival 2019 [SIS19]

Time for the comics party of the year! The twenty-first edition of the Stockholm International Comics Festival is happening on April 6–7 (plus various pre-arrangements). And for the first time, the festival takes place mainly at Konstfack – the University of University of Arts, Crafts and Design – in a cross-border collaboration between Konstfack and Kulturhuset Stadsteatern! This year's theme will be "Meetings".

For twenty years, the epicenter of the Stockholm International Serie Festival has always been Kulturhuset, the Cultural Center at Sergels Torg. But as the building is currently closed due to Maintenance work, it is with great pleasure we want to announce that we have now begun a collaboration with Konstfack, and that the festival will be housed in Konstfack's amazing premises at Telefonplan.

As always, an extensive stage program will be delivered. International guests from Mallorca, USA, Canada, Germany and Poland. A large part of the Swedish comics stage will be present, including Ellen Ekman (Lilla Berlin), Sara Bergmark Elfgren and Karl Johnson (Vei) and Fabian Göranson (Drömmen om Europa). More guests will be presented here soon – and we will also reveal this year's guest of honour!

Our youth libraries maintain the Young Comics Festival with activities for the younger audience at Konstfack.

Exhibitions are shown at Konstfack and Stockholm City Library.

In our forum for portfolio review, comic creators will be able to showcase their works for professional publishers, editors and others.

The heart of the festival is, as always, the market called small press expo [spx], where publishers, artists, zine people, comic schools, organizations and stores sell and showcase all the best from the world of sequential art.

More information will be published here continuously.

An event from Kulturhuset Stadsteatern (the Cultural Centre/City Theatre) and Konstfack (the University of University of Arts, Crafts and Design), produced by Serieteket and Konstfack with main support from the Swedish Arts Council.

Parts of the festial are arranged in collaboration with Comic Nostrum, Galago, Instituto Cervantes, Kartago, the Embassy of Canada, Rabén & Sjögren and the Stockholm City Library.
